Sunday night brought an unforgettable scene at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo. Amid the swirling snowflakes and roaring fans, the Bills delivered a commanding performance, crushing the 49ers 35-10 to secure their spot as AFC East champions. The night was headlined by Josh Allen's spectacular display, as the quarterback made NFL history and led his team to victory.

Josh Allen put on a show for the ages, achieving a rare feat with passing, rushing, and receiving touchdowns all in one game. Battling through an injury to his non-throwing hand, Allen’s performance dismantled San Francisco’s highly-touted defense. He completed 13 of 17 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns, rushed three times for 18 yards and another score, and added a receiving touchdown in a highlight-worthy play.
Allen’s versatility and leadership were on full display, leaving no doubt about his status as one of the league's top players.

James Cook and a Dominant Defense

While Allen orchestrated the offense, James Cook provided the fireworks with a breathtaking 65-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Cook’s burst of speed and elusiveness left the 49ers’ defense scrambling and underscored the Bills’ dominance.
On the other side of the ball, Buffalo’s defense was relentless. The unit forced three turnovers, all on fumbles, and completely stifled San Francisco’s offense. These key stops not only shut down the 49ers but also gave Buffalo the momentum to control the game from start to finish.

49ers Face Setbacks

For San Francisco, the game quickly unraveled. Star running back Christian McCaffrey suffered a knee injury early in the second quarter, a blow that left the 49ers’ offense struggling to find its rhythm. McCaffrey’s status remains uncertain, casting a shadow over the remainder of the season.
Quarterback Brock Purdy, returning from injury, had a rough outing as well. He was held to fewer than 100 passing yards for the first time since becoming the team's starter. Without McCaffrey and with Purdy unable to generate big plays, San Francisco’s offense faltered against a dominant Buffalo defense.
The loss drops the 49ers to a 5-7 record, severely dimming their playoff hopes.
